Goal Accomplishment Made Easy™ - a framework for consistent achievement.

You Don’t Have to Be “Special” to Accomplish Your Goals

Hello Fellow Goal Accomplishers,

(from a Harvard-certified strategist who wasn’t supposed to “be somebody” either — and became one anyway)

A lot of people never start working toward their goals because, deep down, they don’t believe they’re special enough to succeed.

They see people who’ve “made it” — people on magazine pages, people online, people with credentials, people whose lives look polished — and quietly tell themselves:

“That’s not for people like me.”

“I don’t have what they have.”

“I’m not special.”

“I missed my chance.”

“I’m too old.”

“I’m too behind.”

“I messed up too much.”

“I wasn’t raised that way.”

“I’m not smart enough, focused enough, or put-together enough.”

Most people won’t say it out loud.

But they feel it.

I know that feeling.

I’ve lived that feeling.

And I’ve been told those things too.

I’m Desiree’ Stapleton de González — Harvard-certified Business Strategist, PMP-certified Project Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt, Fractional COO, and someone featured in over 50 outlets including Forbes, Business Insider, Entrepreneur, and Thrive Global.

But I didn’t come from a life that was supposed to end up here. I wasn’t handed belief. I wasn’t ushered into success. And I definitely wasn’t told I was “special.”

So when I tell you you don’t have to be special to accomplish your goals, I mean it — because success didn’t come from being special. It came from structure, intention, resilience, and the decision to keep moving even when life was loud.

Let’s break down what that actually means for you.

1. Being Special Is a Story — Not a Requirement

People see the end result of someone’s journey and assume they must have been special all along.

But “special” is something the world calls you after you’ve done what they didn’t expect.

Before that, you’re just a person trying.

You don’t need to be special to begin.

You only need to be willing to start where you are — with the capacity, resources, and courage you have today.

2. Your Background Doesn’t Limit Your Future

You don’t need:

  • the right upbringing
  • the right network
  • the right job title
  • the right environment
  • the right financial starting point

People have built extraordinary lives from:

  • childhoods that broke them
  • mistakes that humbled them
  • jobs they never imagined they’d still be in
  • apartments they felt ashamed to invite people into
  • moments they never thought they’d recover from

Some people are 36 living at home, working at Cookout, feeling like they’ve “failed.”

Some people had dreams years ago but life kept hitting them harder than they could stand.

Some people got so used to surviving that “success” feels like a language they were never taught.

None of that disqualifies you.

Your starting point isn’t your identity — it’s just the place you begin.

3. You Don’t Need Genius — You Need Structure

You don’t need to be:

  • the smartest
  • the most organized
  • the most disciplined
  • the most confident
  • the most talented
  • the most prepared

Those things help, sure.

But they’re not the determining factor.

The determining factor is structure — a system that:

  • breaks your goal into small, doable steps
  • focuses on what actually moves the needle
  • keeps you consistent even when emotions shift
  • adapts with your life
  • reconnects you to your “why” when you drift
  • turns follow-through into a rhythm, not a struggle

I built Goal Accomplishment Made Easy™ for this exact reason.

Not to make you special — but to make your success structural.

4. Special People Aren’t the Ones Who Succeed — Supported People Are

Let me be honest:

The world often confuses “special” with “supported.”

People who look special usually:

  • have systems
  • have structure
  • have someone holding them accountable
  • have routines that protect their momentum
  • have clarity instead of chaos
  • have fewer barriers to execution

You don’t need to be special.

You need support — internal or external — that helps you keep going.

And that support can be built.

5. Success Comes From One Thing: Consistency You Can Actually Maintain

Not talent.

Not intelligence.

Not perfection.

Not timing.

Not being special.

Success comes from:

  • small daily actions
  • clear priorities
  • fewer distractions
  • realistic expectations
  • systems you can trust
  • accountability that keeps you steady
  • resilience built through repetition

Special isn’t what builds goals.

Consistency is.

And consistency becomes possible when the plan fits the person — not the fantasy.

Final Reflection

If no one ever told you:

You don’t have to be special to become someone you’re proud of.

You don’t have to be extraordinary to build an extraordinary life.

You don’t have to have a perfect past to create a meaningful future.

You don’t have to have a polished résumé, a certain age, a specific skill set, or a golden start.

You just need a structure that supports who you are today — and who you’re becoming next.

Your life doesn’t have to look like success yet.

You don’t have to look like success yet.

You just have to begin.
